How dental implants Procedure is done?
- Before carrying out the dental implant operation, the doctor must perform complete planning in which to choose: the appropriate area, the diameter of the implant, and the angle at which it will be inserted.
- This process is usually accompanied by panoramic imaging and in many cases also by CT scan of the area.
- The implant itself is a surgical procedure that takes about an hour – two hours depending on the complexity of the case and the number of implants placed in the mouth.
- After determining the location and ensuring the complete sterilization of the place, the doctor numbs the place with a local anesthetic, then a small incision is made in the gums to expose the bone area where the graft will be installed.
- Then holes are drilled in the bone and finally, the implant is inserted into them.
- At this stage, the implant is covered again with gum tissue and remains in place for a period of 6 - 8 weeks until it has healed well with the surrounding bone.
