What is endodontics (root canal treatment)?
Endodontics is a branch of dentistry that deals with the treatment of diseases of the root tissues, the vascular nerve bundle that provides protection and nourishment inside the teeth.
What is root canal treatment?
The outer layer of the upper part of the teeth is made of enamel tissue, and the bottom is made of yellow dentin tissue. The tooth contains pulp tissue, which is also known as nervous tissue and consists of vessels, nerves, and connective tissue and gives the tooth its vitality. The pulp extends to the tip of the root through canals in the root and connects to the main nervous and vascular system of the body from the root tip. The process of removing the pulp from the root of the tooth, treating the root canals, and filling these areas with filling materials is called canal treatment.
What cases require root canal treatment?

- If you have an advanced gum problem due to lack of treatment
How do I know I need root canal treatment?
- If you have sensitivity and pain in your teeth when eating sugary, hot or cold foods
- If you have a toothache without any symptoms, especially at night
- If you feel a tingling pain in your teeth while eating,
- With the onset of a change in the color of the tooth. In cases where the aforementioned matters are reached, treatment must definitely be received, because the matter will not heal on its own. Your dentist must perform the required intervention
How is the treatment? Is it a painful process?
You will not feel any pain because root canal treatment is a treatment in which the entire tooth is numbed using local anesthesia. After the tooth is anesthetized, all the decayed tissue on the tooth is cleaned and the pulp (neural venous tissue) is cleaned up to the root ends. The channels are filled with fillers after they are cleaned and expanded. The surface structure of the tooth is restored with rays, inlay (porcelain filling), or porcelain veneer.
How long does root canal treatment last?
Root canal treatment is a procedure that is usually completed in about one hour within a day. If there is any abscess in your tooth it may be completed in a few sessions after the medical treatment is applied.
Will there be pain after root canal treatment?
It is normal to experience sensitivity for about a week after root canal treatment. During this period, you can use the painkillers recommended by your doctor
